Puppy weights and update

The puppies are learning to eat well. It seems like they want to eat until they explode! The Burgundy collar female and the male especially. Kitty and purple still have some problems with getting milk up their nose, but they are getting better. Lulu has learned the nursing procedure and comes readily out of her crate to feed the babies. Here are the babies current weights:
Burgundy 1lb
Orange .8lb
Hello Kitty .72
lavender .88
Green .92
Purple .88

Puppies

Puppies and mom are doing great! One of the girls (red and white) is about 2x the size of all the other pups. I weighed everyone last night and assigned collars. I will post the weights later. Lulu did really well nursing the puppies. A couple of them were difficult to get started eating. I took 2 of them to Lily and got them started nursing on her (her milk is easier to get to), then I pulled them off and took them to their mommy for that all important colostrum.

Lulu ate some frozen biljac and puppy food with yogurt for Dinner. She is starting to feel better and is protective of the pups. She growls at the other dogs when they walk by the baby gate to her room.

I think we have some really nicely marked pups. I took photos of each one last night, but will try to get some better ones this week. I think the Giant Girl is already being nick named "Olga".

Soon...

Lulu is very large and miserable now. She can no longer climb the stairs and I have to pick her up to bringer her in the house. This isn't easy since she now weighs 60+ lbs. She hasn't been acting right and this morning she didn't finish her breakfast, so I took her to the vet today and they did a progesterone test to see if the puppies are ready to be born. They called and said she wasn't ready yet. She refused Dinner tonight as well. I am guessing it will be tomorrow or the next day when she has to go in for C-section.

Lulu Visits the dane pups

Lulu took her turn visiting the Dane pups today. She was pretty patient with them. I think she made Lily a little nervous though. She seems really active today. You can see she is very large. I am guessing 5 puppies.

Adventures in Bulldogs

For me, owning a bulldog has been an adventure. They are unlike any other dog breed I have every had. Benchmark's English Aristocrat aka Lulu is a complex mix of independence and dependence. I anticipate my first Bulldog litter to be a very unique experience. Lulu was bred to CH. Staley's Steppin Out Simon. Simon is a beautiful white bulldog . This is a line breeding on a very well known and very nice BISS CH Beauties Amos. I think this litter is going to produce very nice looking Bulldogs. I am hoping for some white dogs that look like their father.

Lulu is due next week, so she is getting pretty large. She is starting to get kind of grumpy with the other dogs and due to her extreme girth, she spends a lot of time in her crate. I'll post a picture of her if I can get one. She is camera shy and a little stubborn. She is more than happy to visit with me right now if she wants petting or cookies, but if she think I want something- forget it!
