The New Little Boy

Lulu gave birth to a beautiful brindle baby boy. This little guy is GORGEOUS! He has a very flat little face, huge head, and nice cobby body. His fathers is top 10 bulldog Best in Show (BIS)winner, multiple Best in Specialty Show Winner (BISS), AKC CH Dowat's the Contender. He is an only puppy so he is being completely spoiled! Hopefully, we will have some video up of him in couple of days and sometime next week we should have some stacked photos.

Kitty the Athlete

Kitty is one of the most athletic bulldogs I have seen. She is a master at water volleyball, so loves to fetch, swim (with proper floatation device) and run. On my recent trip to my mom's house, I got to spend some time in the pool with Kitty. When we first went out to swim, we locked her outside the gate. She insisted upon coming in with us. She runs over to the pool step and waits to be geared up. Once her floatation device is securely in place she takes off for a few laps around the pool. Then its back to the step where she waits for a floaty that she can stand on for a volley ball game. We always make sure that someone is nearby and holding the floaty. Kitty is very competitive and sometimes in her launch for the ball she overshoots the mat and has to be saved. She has very good aim and is often able to accomplish several successful volleys. She is pretty impressive for an eight month old and hopefully she will have a long successful career.

Puppies eyes starting to open

These pups are getting huge. Its a wonder some of them can move they are so chubby. There are some really nice puppies emerging. Nice large heads and cobby bodies. Orange, burgundy and Green boy are the largest. Green Boy has awesome markings and a HUGE head with really nice layback. I'll get new weights posted soon. The purple collar female was the first to start opening her eyes. We first saw her little peeper at 8 days old. Thats really young. Most pups don't begin to open their eyes until 11+ days. Lulu is still watchful of the puppies. They have moved to a larger box with some wood shavings for bedding. Everyone is really healthy and they really like to eat! They had lots of visitors Sunday and acquired a new fan in my Dane breeder Friend.

Adventures in Bulldogs

For me, owning a bulldog has been an adventure. They are unlike any other dog breed I have every had. Benchmark's English Aristocrat aka Lulu is a complex mix of independence and dependence. I anticipate my first Bulldog litter to be a very unique experience. Lulu was bred to CH. Staley's Steppin Out Simon. Simon is a beautiful white bulldog . This is a line breeding on a very well known and very nice BISS CH Beauties Amos. I think this litter is going to produce very nice looking Bulldogs. I am hoping for some white dogs that look like their father.

Lulu is due next week, so she is getting pretty large. She is starting to get kind of grumpy with the other dogs and due to her extreme girth, she spends a lot of time in her crate. I'll post a picture of her if I can get one. She is camera shy and a little stubborn. She is more than happy to visit with me right now if she wants petting or cookies, but if she think I want something- forget it!
